The Syrian regime has a
strategic role for Iran, and the fall of Bashar Assad in Syria will be a severe
blow to the Iranian regime because it would lose its strategic ally and the
link to the Lebanese Hezbollah. Therefore, the Iranian regime has used all its
capacity to maintain Assad in power.
